Chapter 8 - Whole person education for the twenty-first century |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
About this chapter‘Education’ normally refers to learning or acquiring knowledge and skills. Valuable though this is, Dr Tebecis points out how this approach alone has also had its limitations. Whole person education emphasises the spiritual aspect. From his understanding and experience, the author believes that the key issues in whole person education are the Light of God; resolving spirit disturbance; elevated innermost attitudes and words of parents; improving the quality of educators; conveying high values; and creating a home of love and harmony all in addition to the conventional approach of acquiring knowledge and skills. This chapter should enthuse professional educators and parents. The chapter also highlights youth education in Sukyo Mahikari, with the involvement of parents. Sukyo Mahikari educators in private and public sectors connected with schools of different levels, colleges and universities are making valuable contributions by practising a spiritually oriented approach. |

Comments from a reader"This is a book I would love the parents of the children in my class, to read. What a wonderful education system we could have if this was essential reading for trainee teachers. If many teachers could grasp the truth of this approach to education we would have wonderful outcomes in schools." Marguerite Gloster, school teacher, Canberra, Australia |
