Chapter 1 - Finding the Light

About this chapter

Why would a scientist give up a flourishing career in brain research and become a kind of a religious practitioner? Chapter 1 describes how Dr Tebecis came to see limitations in the material-centred approach of brain research, and therefore explored  spirituality in Asia. In Japan he found that Mahikari means True Light, a divine energy or power that purifies the spirit, mind and body. Apparently anyone could begin to radiate True Light after completing a three-day primary course and receiving a sacred locket called Omitama.

After completing such a course he discovered that changes did occur when he radiated Light from the hand. Having been involved with psychosomatic medicine, in which one learns that the power of suggestion can influence the body, he was inspired to find that the Light of God brought about changes in not only people who did not necessarily believe in God or any spiritual practice, but also in non-human systems.

He found that True Light promoted the growth of various kinds of beans, corn and lentils, and that it seemed to inhibit the decay of boiled rice, fresh strawberries, raw eggs, milk, various kinds of fruit and other common foods. Animals rapidly recovered from injury as a result of receiving True Light. Over thirty years he has been able to give True Light to tens of thousands of people, not to mention animals, nature, equipment – all kinds of things.

Comments from a reader

“The book is very easy and enjoyable to read and I was very moved at the author’s honesty regarding his own initial attitudes. The way the chapters are set out enable me to find important topics again and again to strengthen my understanding. This book is motivating and valuable for both members and non-members, I feel. I was inspired by the yoko agriculture chapter even though I am involved in business. Personally I feel this book has come at the right time to give valuable support in the guiding of others to this wonderful way of life. It gives hope and inspiration for a better humankind."
